Creamy Tomato Basil Gnocchi

   Start The Sauce** Warm olive oil in a wide skillet over medium heat. Cook garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar, and chilli flakes if using. Simmer 5 minutes.

   Add Cream

   Stir in cream and butter if using. Lower the heat so the sauce gently bubbles. Taste and adjust salt carefully.

   Cook Gnocchi In The Sauce

   Add gnocchi straight to the skillet with a splash of water. Stir to coat. Cover and cook 4 to 6 minutes, stirring once or twice, until the gnocchi are tender and the sauce has thickened around them.

   Check Texture

   If the sauce looks too tight, add another splash of water. If too loose, simmer uncovered for a minute. Gnocchi should be soft but not falling apart.

   Add Cheese And Basil

   Take the pan off the heat. Stir in Parmesan and most of the basil until the cheese melts into the sauce.

   Serve

   Spoon into warm bowls. Top with remaining basil and extra Parmesan. Serve right away as a proper main.
