Easy Apple Crisp
By Jordan Lee ·
Easy apple crisp beats pie when I don't want to roll dough. Mix tart and sweet apples if you can; Granny Smith alone can be sharp, and all soft apples turn mush. Toss fruit with a little flour so the juices thicken. Topping should look like damp sand, not a paste. Cold butter rubbed in with fingertips works; melted butter is faster and still good. Bake until the filling bubbles at the edges. That bubble means the apples are done.
